A Boy and his Ten Year Old Caddie Win the U.S. Open

In 1913, 20-year old amateur Francis Ouimet, a sporting goods salesman and former caddie who grew up across the street from The Country Club, defeated Englishmen Harry Vardon and Ted Ray, the two best golfers of the day, in the playoff for the Open championship, sparking the golf boom in America.

To mark the 100th anniversary of Francis Ouimet’s 1913 U.S. Open win, The Country Club in Brookline hosted several events for members and patrons of the U.S. amateur championship. This short film was created to reintroduce the story to members and set the stage for a series of recreation events.  The film was also shown as part of a historical exhibit, to patrons of the 2013 U.S. Amateur championship.
